CPHR ACCREDITATION

TWU’s School of Business Human Resource specialization is now recognized as an accredited program by the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR).

Who is CPHR and what is the CPHR designation?

The Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is a nationally recognized professional certification in the field of human resources.  The CPHR organization represents 27,000 human resources professionals practicing in Canada.  HR professionals who hold the CPHR designation are recognized as possessing the ability to master all aspects of human resources.   Achievement of the CPHR Designation demonstrates a professional’s comprehensive knowledge of human resources and commitment to the professional practice in HR.

How does TWU’s accreditation impact my ability to earn a (CPHR) designation?

Ordinarily gaining the CPHR designation requires the successful completion of the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) plus three years of professional level HR experience. Now, students who graduate after April 2019, earn their BBA from TWU’s School of Business, and meet the following two requirements:

1. Complete the five human resource specialization courses:

Industrial Relations- BUSI 351

Managing and Devel the Human Resource- BUSI 453

Compensation & Work Environment- BUSI 454

Professional Practice in HR- BUSI 459

HR Self-directed Experience Project- BUSI 493; and

2. Graduate with an overall business GPA of 2.7

are eligible to by-pass the NKE exam, gaining immediate designation as soon as experience requirements are met.

What steps should I take to begin now?

We encourage you to consider a student membership in CPHR. You can read more about the benefits you will receive as a student member below.  After graduation, you should contact CPHR to request your exemption from the National Knowledge Exam and begin accumulating your three years of HR professional experience.
